One Month In, Building on Excellence

As we conclude our first vibrant month of the 2026 academic year, I extend my warmest greetings to all members of our school community. The energy on campus has been palpable, filled with the sound of rekindled friendships, focused classroom discussions, and the spirited buzz of our extra-mural fields and venues. It is a pleasure to reflect on our strong start and share our collective path forward.

We began the year by celebrating the exceptional achievements of the Class of 2025, whose outstanding results—including 164 Bachelor passes and 202 Distinctions—set a inspiring benchmark of excellence. Our Dux Scholar, Danni Teasdale, and all our top achievers remind us of what is possible through dedication. We thank the teachers, parents, and supporters who helped make these successes a reality.

That legacy of “Semper Virtute – Always Excellent” is now in the hands of our 2026 student body. To our senior learners: you are the leaders and tone-setters. To our Grade 8s: you have transitioned wonderfully into high school life and are already becoming part of our fabric. I have been delighted to see so many of you embracing our core expectations: showing enthusiasm in your approach, commitment to your work, and respect for everyone in our community.

A crucial pillar of our school life is now fully underway: our extra-mural programme. From sports fields to rehearsal venues, our offerings are bustling with activity. We hold firm to the expectation that every student participates in at least one extra-mural activity per term—this is where resilience, teamwork, and school spirit come to life. I encourage all students to remain actively involved and parents to please support your children’s participation in these formative pursuits.

As partners in your child’s education, your role is invaluable. We ask for your continued support in reinforcing the values that keep our community strong and focused: encouraging regular attendance and punctuality, ensuring adherence to the dress code as a symbol of pride, and engaging in open dialogue about respectful behaviour both onsite and online. A united front between home and school ensures every student can thrive in a safe, positive environment.

My sincere thanks to our dedicated staff—including our wonderful new educators—for their passion this past month, and to our parents for your trust. The foundation for a remarkable year has been laid. Let us continue to build, together, with purpose and pride.

Here’s to a 2026 defined by growth, achievement, and excellence in all we do.

    Mr Andrew Holliday

    Honouring Our Long-Serving Staff

    Matric Results 2025

A great school is measured not only by its facilities and curriculum, but by the character and achievements of its students. It is therefore with immense pride that I congratulate our Matric Class of 2025 on their outstanding results.

These remarkable young people have demonstrated the true meaning of dedication, resilience, and intellectual curiosity. Their success is a powerful testament to their hard work, the unwavering support of their families, and the exceptional commitment of our teaching staff.

While we celebrate these superb academic accomplishments, we are equally proud of the compassionate, well-rounded individuals these learners have become. They leave us not just with excellent results, but with the values and skills to build a brighter future.

QUALITIES OF A FOURWAYS SCHOOL HIGH SCHOOL AMBASSADOR

It is noted that all Fourways High School students are representatives of our school in the public domain.  Behaviours that cast the school in good light are expected and encouraged.  An ambassador, however, goes further than the expected qualities and is a dedicated student who:

    • Represents the school positively: through exemplary behaviour, academic excellence, and active participation in extracurricular activities.
    • Builds community: by fostering strong relationships with peers, teachers, and staff.
    • Demonstrates leadership: by effectively communicating, problem-solving, and mediating conflicts.
    • Embraces diversity: by respecting and valuing individuals from all backgrounds.
    • Serves others: by putting the needs of others before their own.

In essence, an ambassador is a role model who embodies the school’s values of hard work, involvement, courtesy, integrity and respect.

THE QUALITIES OF AN ESPRIT DE CORPS COMMENDATION RECIPIENT

The French phrase “Esprit-de-Corps” literally means “the spirit of the body” and is typically used to refer to the “feeling of pride and mutual loyalty shared by the members of a group.” At Fourways High School, the Esprit de Corps commendation is the highest that can be bestowed on a student.

A prerequisite for awarding an Esprit de Corps is the awarding of an ambassador the previous year. Thus, it is assumed that the qualities of an ambassador have already been acknowledged. However, to receive an Esprit de Corps commendation, a student must not only possess these ambassadorial qualities but also demonstrate exceptional leadership, service, and commitment to the school community. They should be outstanding among their peers and stand out as an exemplary Ambassador.
