Cheerleading, often overlooked as a sideline activity, is actually a demanding and athletic sport that requires strength, flexibility, coordination, and endurance. High school cheerleaders dedicate countless hours to perfecting routines that combine gymnastics, dance, and acrobatics.
They perform intricate stunts, flips, and jumps, all while maintaining synchronized movements and expressive cheers. Beyond physical prowess, cheerleading fosters teamwork, discipline, and leadership skills, making it a valuable extracurricular activity for young athletes.

Cross Country
- Term 2
- TIC: Mrs Frances Webster
Cross Country is a demanding endurance sport that takes place during Term 2. Athletes race on challenging trails and park courses, with senior boys covering 6km and senior girls, junior boys, and girls racing over 4km.
To excel in Cross Country, runners need a solid foundation of slow, steady runs combined with interval training to improve their speed and endurance. Strength training, particularly hill repeats and circuit training, is crucial for building the power and stamina required for success.
Cross Country offers both individual and team glory. Athletes can earn school colors by qualifying for district teams and achieving top results at the end-of-season meeting. Additionally, teams of four runners can qualify by consistently performing well throughout the season and securing strong results at the final event.
