Facilities

Since its inception in the 1980s, Fourways High School has been committed to providing top-tier education. What began as a small school with 145 learners and 8 teachers has evolved into a thriving institution.

A Focus on Personalized Learning

With class sizes averaging 27-35 learners, we prioritize individual attention. Our classrooms, equipped with smart boards, foster interactive and engaging learning experiences.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

Our cutting-edge science and computer laboratories provide students with the tools they need to excel in STEM fields and beyond.

Sports and more

Our sporting facilities at Fourways High are of the highest standard, featuring impeccably maintained fields, courts, and state-of-the-art indoor arenas. This ensures that every extramural activity has its own dedicated space

About our facilities

Forget chalkboards and cramped desks! Our classrooms are infused with technology, starting with three fully-equipped computer centres.
But the learning transcends these dedicated spaces. Our versatile venues adapt to host everything from chemistry experiments in the science lab to art competitions in the visual arts classroom.

And it’s not just about high-tech gadgets; every classroom hums with a data projector, staff laptop, and reliable internet, ensuring technology is woven into the fabric of every learning experience.

Our fibre network is proudly sponsored by Vuma and Home Connect. This, together with our WiFi network, ensures that the school has a wide-reaching digital footprint across campus, enabling online connectivity and incorporation of e-learning in a variety of classes.

The Media Centre offers learners a variety of reading material from the following genres:

  • English Fiction
  • Afrikaans Fiction
  • Zulu Fiction
  • Easy Readers
  • Fantasy
  • Romance
  • Mystery novels
  • Biographies
  • Non-Fiction
  • Ready Reference
  • Magazines
  • Various entrepreneur magazines

Homework and study

The Media Centre offers homework and study facilities to the learners during break and after school.

Computers

The library transforms into a bustling haven for curious minds during breaks and after school! Whether it’s crafting a science experiment report or weaving a story for your creative writing class, the library computers are a digital canvas. With word processing software at your fingertips, students can type away, edit with ease, and format their masterpiece like a pro.

But the library’s magic goes beyond hardware. Need a helping hand navigating the research jungle or mastering that tricky referencing style? A librarian is on hand, ready to offer guidance and support by pointing students towards the most valuable resources, teaching research and referencing techniques.

SORA Digital Library

The SORA app offers learners an exciting way to read books!

SORA is an internet-based “library” of a variety of eBooks and audio books that can be downloaded and read on a variety of compatible electronic devices such as smartphones, iPads and other eReaders.  These books are accessible 24/7…anywhere, anytime!

Our spacious and fully air-conditioned school hall is the heart of our campus. It serves as the backdrop for a wide range of events, from inspiring assemblies to exhilarating performances.

Witness the electrifying energy of our annual Major Production, a showcase of talent and creativity that leaves audiences spellbound. Our hall also hosts the prestigious Mr and Ms Fourways pageant and the dazzling Talent Show, celebrating the diverse talents of our students.

Beyond entertainment, our hall is a practical space. It accommodates important parent meetings and serves as a dedicated venue for matric examinations and prelims, ensuring a conducive environment for focused learning.

Upon entering the school through the Robin Drive entrance, you’ll find floodlit multipurpose courts on the right, perfect for evening practice and matches. To the left lies the school’s LED-lit A-field, a multipurpose haven for cricket, rugby, soccer, and athletics. Adjacent to it, on the school’s perimeter, sits the B-field.

Further within the school grounds, you’ll encounter the Pavilion, a multipurpose sports hall constructed in 1998. This spacious venue can accommodate the entire school for assemblies and doubles as an exam venue.

Equipped with multi-sport flooring, the Pavilion also hosts volleyball and indoor hockey tournaments.

Exiting the Pavilion on the opposite side, you’ll find the school’s 25-meter swimming pool, built in 1990.

Surrounded by grandstands, this pool is the stage for the school’s inter-tribe and interschool galas.

Adjacent to the pool, you’ll discover the Astroturf, built in 2012. Home to the Fourways High School hockey teams, this floodlit field allows for day and night matches and often hosts camps for provincial teams and clinics for neighboring schools, fostering the growth of hockey within the school.

Beyond dedicated Class Tutors and Grade Heads, our school boasts a robust Support Team. Comprised of experienced and highly trained educators, this team stands ready to address any academic, social, or emotional difficulties your child might face.

Should additional support be needed, we offer an in-house Intervention Program led by our two qualified psychologists in a dedicated Personal Development Centre on the premises. This program tailors solutions to each child’s individual needs, ensuring they receive the specific guidance they require for success and to help them surmount personal problems in their daily lives.

Our objective is to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where every child thrives.
