Facilities

Classrooms

Since opening its doors in the 1980s, Fourways High School has proudly maintained and further developed its classroom facilities and infrastructure. It’s hard to imagine that the school opened its door to only 145 learners and 8 teachers.

Our junior grade classes have a maximum of 35 learners per class and our senior classes average 27 learners. There are 7 classes per grade, and the majority of our classrooms are equipped with smart boards to allow for interactive teaching.

Our fully equipped science and computer laboratories ensure that Fourways High School is able to offer a high level of education across subjects.

Sports Facilities

Fourways High School has a vast number of sporting facilities available to its learners, staff and community members. When driving past the school on Kingfisher Drive, it’s hard to see what the school has to offer in its entirety.

On entering the school through the Robyn Drive entrance, the netball and tennis courts are found to the right. These are flood lit to allow for practise and play during the evening. To the left is our LED lit A-field which is used for multiple sports disciplines such as cricket, rugby, soccer and athletics. Our B-field is found adjacent to this on the perimeter of the school.

Walking further through the school, you will find our Pavilion. This multipurpose sports hall was built in 1998 and is large enough to host the whole school for assemblies and doubles as an exam venue. Equipped with multi-sport flooring, this venue is also used to host volleyball tournaments and has recently hosted the PSI National Junior and Senior Indoor Hockey tournaments.

As you exit on the opposite side of the Pavilion, you will find our 25m swimming pool that was built in 1990. Surrounded by grandstands, this houses our Inter Tribe and Inter High galas.

Behind the swimming pool, our practise cricket nets used by our teams through out the season.

Adjacent to the swimming pool is the Astroturf. Built in 2012 and home to the Fourways High School hockey teams, this floodlit Astroturf allows for day and night matches to be played and often hosts camps for provincial teams and clinics for neighbouring schools, ensuring the growth of hockey within our school.

Underneath the Pavilion, Fourways High School is proud to have a fully equipped gym. This is open to all learners and is used by our school teams during their off-season to help build base strength and agility which is integral to them achieving best results in their chosen sports.
