From the Desk of the Principal
To our incredible school community,
As the final days of 2025 tick by, I find myself reflecting on the remarkable journey we have shared. Well, we made it! Another school year is in the books, and what a year it was.
While our students are undoubtedly ready for their holiday, I can confidently say that every member of our staff family has certainly earned a restful break. This school is not made of bricks and mortar; it is built on the energy, dedication, and sheer grit of its people, and this year has been a powerful testament to that spirit.
I extend my deepest gratitude to every corner of our community. To our Deputy Principals, Mr. Elliott, Mrs. Rametsi, and Mrs. Borrill-Fombe—our steadfast navigators. To our academic leaders—the Departmental, Grade, and Subject Heads—who are the unwavering engine room of our school. And to every teacher, whose passion lights up our classrooms daily, whether explaining complex concepts, inspiring creativity, or coaching on the stage and sports field.
A school, however, is far more than its teachers. A gigantic thank you must go to our unparalleled support staff:
- To the Finance Office, for turning visions into reality.
- To our Psychologists, for being a calm harbour in stormy seas.
- To our Administrators, the true wizards who hold everything together.
- And to every member of our support team across the library, grounds, tech, and beyond—you are the glue that allows us to function smoothly each day.
As we celebrate our collective achievements, we also pause to bid farewell to valued colleagues who are moving on to new adventures. We extend our heartfelt thanks and best wishes to Ms Frizoli, Miss Dukes, Mrs. Maritz, Mrs. du Plessis, and Ms Buys. Your contributions have been immense, and you will always remain part of our school family.
Today, we also honour a very special farewell. Our Departmental Head of Commerce, Mr James de Wit, is retiring after an incredible 19-year legacy at our school. Mr de Wit has been the heart of Business Studies, sharing his real-world expertise with thousands of students and colleagues. His leadership extended far beyond the classroom, through his dedication to extra-murals and his expert guidance of the Student Council. While his department, and indeed our entire staff, will miss his dedicated leadership, we must admit the staff room will be a much quieter—and perhaps less colourful—place without his vibrant presence! On behalf of us all, we wish Mr de Wit a happy, long, and adventure-filled retirement. May your days be filled with relaxation, joy, and far less paperwork!
To our students and parents, I address a special word of thanks. To our students: thank you for your curiosity, your effort, and the unique energy you bring to our halls. Your achievements, big and small, are what make this work so meaningful. To our parents and guardians: thank you for your unwavering partnership, trust, and support. Your collaboration is the cornerstone of our students’ success.
I wish everyone a safe, restorative, and joyful holiday. May you return refreshed and ready for the new chapters ahead.
With warm regards,
Mr Andrew Holliday
