Specific Skills
  • Proven, successful experience as an outstanding classroom teacher of Mathematics at the secondary/high school level.
  • A minimum of 3 (Three) years overall teaching experience in Mathematics
  • In-depth knowledge of the national curriculum for mathematics and current pedagogical best practices.
  • Previous experience as a Subject Head or similar leadership role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to motivate and inspire both students and colleagues.
  • Experience mentoring, managing and coaching early-career teachers.
  • Experience successfully managing a budget and resources.
  • Experience with integrating technology effectively into the mathematics curriculum.
  • Further Studies Mathematics teaching experience is advantageous.
Responsible For
  • Provide regular progress updates to the School Leadership Team to ensure they are fully aware of all successes, issues and concerns in the subject areas.
  • Provide useful and detailed analysis of data to support student progress.
  • Ensure the department is well resourced and maintain the effective deployment and management of the department budget.
  • Collaborate with grade coordinators and subject teachers to create effective schemes of work and year plans.
  • Maintain consistent assessment practices including planning and monitoring the setting of assessment tasks, marking, moderation and data analysis.
Educational Requirements
  • Relevant Teaching Qualifications from an accredited institution in Mathematics or a closely related field
  • Must be SACE registered with a permanent SACE number
