Cross Country

Sports

Cross Country is a Term 2 sport involving racing on trails and in parks. Senior boys race over a distance of 6km and senior girls, junior boys and girls race over 4km. To do well at Cross Country runners require a fair base fitness involving slow, easy pace running sessions and threshold training. Strength training is also key to being a competent Cross Country athlete and is best developed doing hill repeats and circuit training.

Cross Country is both an individual and team sport. Individual runners can be awarded colours by qualifying for district teams and placing well at the end of season meeting. Teams of four members each can also qualify by consistently doing well as a team and performing well at the end of season meeting.
