Building a Community of Respect and Belonging
Dear Parents, Students, and Staff,
As we begin this new term, I want to reflect on a value I hold deeply—the way we treat one another. Our school is more than just a place of learning; it is a vibrant community where every individual brings unique strengths, challenges, and perspectives.
Picture our school as a playground. Within it, you’ll find high achievers in academics, sports, and culture alongside quieter, more reserved students. There are those who exude confidence and those who struggle with self-assurance; learners from privileged backgrounds and those facing adversity; naturally kind hearts and those still learning empathy; the healthy and those battling illness; the resilient and the vulnerable.
Just as in a playground, life brings together people of all walks of life. What truly matters is not our differences, but how we choose to respond to them. A thriving school—like a thriving community or nation—is not one where everyone is the same, but one where we respect, uplift, and learn from one another despite our differences.
When we choose kindness over cruelty, understanding over judgment, and support over indifference, we do more than improve our school—we shape the kind of world we want to live in. Imagine a school where the strong stand up for the vulnerable, where high achievers lift others up rather than exclude them, where no one eats alone, and where every student feels they belong. This is the culture we are building together.
The lessons we teach and learn here extend far beyond the classroom. They shape the leaders, neighbours, and global citizens our students will become. As we embark on this term, let us commit not only to academic excellence but also to fostering a community grounded in respect, empathy, and unity. Together, we can prove that diversity is not a weakness but our greatest strength.
Let’s make this term our best yet—one where every member of our school family feels valued, supported, and inspired to grow.
Warm regards,
Andrew Holliday
MESSAGE TO GRADE 12 LEARNERS
Dear Grade 12 Class of 2025,
First, let me acknowledge the incredible team behind your journey:
- Mr. Holliday the Principal, whose leadership continues to inspire excellence.
- Educators & Support Staff, whose dedication shapes your future every single day.
- Learners & Principals from neighbouring schools, standing with us as one district, one family.
- District Officials, tirelessly driving quality education forward.
- And YOU—the heartbeat of this school. You are not just a class; you are possibility itself.
This message isn’t about just passing. It’s about 7 out of 7 subject passes resulting in a Bachelor Pass. It’s about every one of you leaving Fourways High with results that unlock your brightest future.
THE STANDARD IS SET
Fourways High is not an average school. You don’t carry an average name. Excellence is your legacy—but we’re not at 100% yet. That gap? That’s why this matters. No Legend left behind.
5 PRINCIPLES TO ACHIEVE 7/7
- DECIDE YOU WILL
- Say it now: “I will pass all 7 subjects with a bachelor pass.”
- Success starts with a decision—not motivation. Choose your future.
- PLAN LIKE A CHAMPION
- Champions don’t “hope” to succeed; they prepare.
- Stick to a timetable. Target weak areas. Make time—don’t wait for it.
- ASK FOR HELP EARLY
- Even Olympians have coaches. Ask teachers, peers, or online—silence is the enemy of progress.
- SURROUND YOURSELF WITH EXCELLENCE
- Your circle should push you forward, not pull you down.
- “If you’re the smartest in the room, you’re in the wrong room.”
- REMEMBER YOUR WHY
- You’re fighting for:
- Your family’s sacrifices.
- Your future child’s pride.
- Your freedom.
- You’re fighting for:
FINAL PUSH
You are not too late. You are not average. You have time—but none to waste.
Fourways High doesn’t settle for seats at the bottom. There’s only room at the top—OCCUPY IT.
When 2026 results drop, let the story be: “They did it. All of them. Together.”
I believe in you. Now go believe in yourselves. Success is intentional.
Ms V. Cindi, District Director, Johannesburg North District

67 Minutes
On June 24 our school community came together to honour Mandela Day by giving 67 minutes of service. Students enthusiastically participated in two meaningful initiatives:
- Sandwich Drive – Hundreds of sandwiches were made for Daily Bread Org to distribute to those in need
Polar Bear Plunge – A chilly but fun fundraiser that brought out our brave participants
We’re deeply grateful to our incredible sponsors:
• Stage Zero & Home-Connect for donating sandwich supplies and joining the event
• Capmor Stationers Leaping Frog for generously donating to our second charity, the SA Guide-Dogs Association
The highlight? Meeting guide dog puppies-in-training Kane, Karla & Knox with their handlers! Special thanks to Melanie & Monica from SA Guide Dogs for their partnership.
