From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Staff
As this is our final newsletter of the year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey we have shared as a school community.
This past year has been filled with remarkable achievements, both academically and extra-curricularly. From outstanding performances in sports and cultural activities to dedicated service to our community, our students have exceeded expectations.
I am immensely proud of the students for their individual accomplishments. Whether it’s a sporting victory, a cultural triumph, or a selfless act of service, their contributions to our school have been invaluable.
While we celebrate our successes, it is also important to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our students in academic pursuits. We encourage every one of them to strive for their best and to take pride in their academic achievements. As we approach the final exams, I urge all students to prepare diligently. Adequate preparation is key to success and will help alleviate unnecessary stress.
I would also like to take a moment to ask you all to keep the matric Class of 2024 in your minds as they continue writing their National Senior Certificate examinations.
I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to our dedicated staff. Teaching is a demanding profession, and their tireless efforts and commitment to our students are truly commendable. Their dedication both inside and outside the classroom will undoubtedly have a lasting impact on the lives of our students.
As we say goodbye to three valued members of our school community, we extend our sincere gratitude for their significant contributions. Their dedication, expertise, and unwavering commitment have enriched our school environment.
Mrs Tracey Shanahan will be leaving us after four years of dedicated service at the “Legend’s Locker.” Beginning as a volunteer mother, she played a crucial role in managing lost property and second-hand clothing. Her exceptional work led to her appointment as the full-time manager of the shop. We wish Mrs Shanahan all the best in her future endeavours.
Ms Lizzie Nthite has been an invaluable member of our Fourways family for an impressive 26 years. She has made significant contributions to the school, working in the tuckshop until its privatization and subsequently assisting with sports catering and the “Legend’s Locker.” Ms Nthite’s dedication to our students and the school community is truly commendable. We wish her a happy and well-deserved retirement.
Mrs Cathy Durston has been an inspiring Mathematics teacher at Fourways for 19 years. In addition to her academic responsibilities, she has been actively involved in our tennis program. Mrs Durston’s career has flourished at Fourways, where she has served as a teacher, Grade Head, Subject Head, and Department Head of Mathematics. While we understand and support her decision to become a stay-at-home mom when her baby arrives early next year, we hope that she will continue to share her expertise with us in the future.
Let us celebrate the achievements of the past year and look forward to a bright future ahead. Together, we can continue to foster a culture of excellence, compassion, and academic success.
I wish you all a wonderful and restful festive season, filled with joy, laughter, and quality time with loved ones. May the coming year bring you new opportunities, happiness, and continued success.
