From the Principal's Desk

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,

On behalf of the entire Fourways team, I extend a warm welcome back to all of you for the second term! I trust everyone enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating break and is now ready to dive into a term filled with learning, achievement, and exciting school events.

Academics Take Centre Stage

The second term holds significant weight in the academic calendar. We ramp up our focus as we prepare for the crucial mid-year exams. These exams are important for all grades, as they provide valuable benchmarks for individual progress and identify areas for improvement.

For our Grade 12 students, the stakes are even higher. Strong performance in the mid-year exams sets the foundation for success in the Preliminary exams coming up in Term 3, followed closely by the final Matriculation examinations. We urge our Grade 12s to dedicate themselves fully to their studies, utilise all available resources, and communicate any challenges they may face with their teachers.

Winter Sports Season Heats Up

The second term also marks the beginning of the bustling winter sports season! We have an exciting schedule packed with fixtures across various sports, including most Saturdays. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a curious newcomer, we encourage you to get involved. The camaraderie, teamwork, and development of sportsmanship are invaluable experiences that complement your academic journey. We also call on all students to support their peers and cheer on our teams at the various matches.

Parents, your role in facilitating your child’s participation and fostering their school spirit is crucial. Help them manage their time effectively and ensure they get sufficient rest to balance academics with sports.

Sister Act Hits the Stage!

Mark your calendars! Our highly anticipated production, “Sister Act – The Musical,” takes centre stage in May. This promises to be a captivating show brimming with energy and talent. We anticipate high demand for tickets, so act fast when booking opens to secure your seats and be a part of this spectacular event.

A Shared Responsibility

Before we dive headfirst into the term, I want to remind our parents of their vital role in our student’s success. We encourage you to:

  • Prioritize Attendance: Ensure your child attends school punctually every day.
  • Uphold School Policies: Reinforce and support the school’s code of conduct and appearance code.
  • Promote Academic Integrity: Encourage your child to complete all schoolwork diligently and honestly.

Together, through partnership, dedication, and a positive school spirit, we can make this term a resounding success!

Hockey Tour to Port Shepstone

Senior Girls

Highlights were Fourways and Hoogies from Mpumalanga drawing on the second day, and deciding to settle a new healthy rivalry by playing another fixture. Ending once again in a one-all draw with a fight back by Hoogies. The two teams settled the scores by having a shootout with Letlotlo Mokone making phenomenal saves, while Banele Mbokazi stepped up as the last player displaying incredible composure securing the win.

Some results from the week:

  • Fourways u19 2 vs Hoogenhout  1
  • Hoogies u19 1 vs Fourways girls 1
  • Brandwag 2 vs Fourways 0
  • Hoogies u19 1 vs Fourways 1 (Fourways won 1-0 on penalty shoot outs)

The results do not do justice to the hockey displayed during the week. We are certain the ability to be an amazing team awaits the players in the upcoming season.

Senior Boys

Highlights were the boys’ games rivalry against Port Shepstone Club.

  • Hangklip u19 0 vs Fourways 5
  • Fourways Boys 19 4 vs invitational team 5
  • Fourways boys 3 vs Creston 4
  • Fourways boys 3 vs Port Shepstone club 2
  • Fourways boys 5 vs Port Shepstone club 4

We know that every missed opportunity during the preseason games is guaranteed to convert to many goals during the season.

A big thank you to Mr Crighton and Ms Zulu for your time dedicated away from your families and looking after the players at the Home of Legends.
